Context
Illegal waste is poisoning our planet: globally, 2 billion tons of garbage are disposed of yearly. “Let’s Do It, Romania!”, an NGO part of the biggest environmental mass movement worldwide, came to QUALITANCE to leverage technology and help people clean their neighborhood and their favorite nature spots.
Challenge
We helped Let’s Do It, Romania! switch from pen and paper to crowdsourced digital reporting of illegal waste. We had to create an accurate waste mapping and the integration to local authorities in charge of cleaning up.
Solution
We built a scalable web platform and a mobile app with a super-friendly user interface to identify quickly and locate illegal waste, creating a direct and simple connection between citizens and the local infrastructure.
The system runs as a pilot in Romania and Moldova and will be extended for being used worldwide, to make volunteering available anytime, to anyone who simply owns a smartphone.
