Context
IKEA came to QUALITANCE to create revolutionary shopping mall experiences and leverage next-gen technologies that would transform their current shopping malls. They needed highly scalable solutions to touch the lives of millions of people and reinforce their core philosophy – “For the many”.
Challenge
Inspired by the best principles of design thinking and rapid prototyping, we built and tested prototypes using a variety of emerging technologies. In a complex, content-heavy medium like VR and AR, rapid prototyping seemed to be an impossible job. Nevertheless, our build team successfully turned imagination into reality overnight.
Solution
Based in Moscow, our 2-day workshop engaged 5 teams to prototype with customers a variety of new ways to shop, connect and enjoy experiences together.
We designed and tested 6 new products, with 2 of them being merged into a single product and fast-tracked by the IKEA Centers Global Board in June 2016.
We built the core MVP in 10 weeks, and the fully scalable product in less than 6 months.
After launch, we used the System Usability Scale – a global standard in use for over 30 years – to measure the experience. The average product SUS score is 68, and less than 15% of products ever built scored above 90. Our solution received a 90.7 score.
